DISTANCE LEARNING

DISTANCE LEARNING CAN HELP ALL AMERICANS

"Distance Education can help all Americans -- including workers, parents, people in rural communities and people with disabilities -- go to college by removing barriers of time and place through innovative technology." - Richard Riley, former U.S. Secretary of Education

It used to be that the only way to earn your degree and become a court reporter, captioner, or CART reporter was to spend hours sitting in a traditional classroom. But things have changed, and the College of Court Reporting is delivering the classroom over the Internet, directly to you, wherever and whenever you want. Whether for love of learning, career advancement, or personal satisfaction, you can earn your associate degree through CCR's fully accredited online court reporting program.  CCR is approved by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to offer its entire court reporting program through distance learning via the Internet. We received our approval on May 23, 2001.

  • As an active adult, you can continue your college education via distance education from your own home online.
  • You no longer have to limit yourself to colleges and universities in your locale. Distance learning makes it possible anywhere! You no longer have to limit yourself to schools you have commute to attend class.
  • You no longer have to overpay for unreliable home study self-taught Internet kits.
  • You no longer have to forsake a college degree because of distance limitations. CCR's online distance education degree granting program opens the door.

"Distance Education is an excellent option for a great many busy Americans who have a work life and a family life..." - Lamar Alexander, former U.S. Secretary of Education

WATCH OUT FOR THOSE "DIPLOMA MILLS"and "HOME STUDY KITS"

Watch out for those "Diploma Mills" and "Home Study Kits"! Don't be misled by all of the "teach yourself court reporting at home" kits.  CCR has carefully cultivated and protected its reputation for quality. Be an educated consumer and research the following:

  • Are you seeking a program that is accredited by an organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Are you seeking a program that is approved by the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA).  Paying to become an NCRA  Corporate Sponsor does not mean an educational program is NCRA approved.
  • Are you seeking a program that employs faculty or staff who actually instruct you as the student on a day to day basis.

Before you purchase a teach yourself at home kit, research what you are actually purchasing and price a court reporting machine, books, cassette tapes, and other supplies, directly from various vendors.  You may find that they can all be purchased for hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars less.
