COMPLETE THE STUDENT INFORMATION RECORD
Our process for evaluating students differs from most post-secondary institutions and focuses primarily on the following criteria:
We at the College of Court Reporting hold a long-standing reputation, one which we work to protect. With our successes over the years in placing our graduates, we have discovered many of the individual skills and characteristics that companies look for. Therefore, we want the type of students coming to CCR who will result in the type of graduates these companies are looking for.
We want students who are serious about their desire to succeed – We want students who will graduate – We want students ready (following graduation) to enter careers that interest them!
We at the College of Court Reporting believe there are three major factors that ensure success:
Desire
Interest
Motivation
We believe that when a student has these key factors, it often makes the difference between graduation and dropout! The role of our admissions staff is to make a recommendation for those students who demonstrate these three factors or to recommend other options for those students who do not. Is a licensed, certified, working court reporter using machine shorthand. A mentor may be certified by NCRA or the state in which they work.
Is a practicing attorney or sitting judge;
Is an educator currently working at the college level.
College of Court Reporting prefers a certified court reporter for the following reasons:
They understand the field of court reporting and the activities that you will be doing.
They could help you with any problem that could occur, such as the machine needing a new ribbon.
The certified court reporter is also someone whom you might be able to do your internship with.
Note: College of Court Reporting is not responsible for finding and paying for the mentor; however, we will assist with finding a mentor if the need arises.
Suggestion: To find a certified court reporter, look in the yellow pages for court reporting agencies.
