All applicants must show
evidence of high school graduation and exhibit a serious attitude toward training in the career area offered by
this institution. No qualified applicant will be refused based on age, race,
creed, or sex.
Students enrolled in on-line classes over the Internet must have a high
level of discipline to commit a substantial amount of time each week on
course work and to stick to a strict schedule. Students must have excellent
computer and keyboarding knowledge and communication and writing skills to
"talk" to instructors and other students. Students must be capable of
communicating online with instructors and other students.
CANCELLATION POLICY
A full refund will be
made to any student who cancels the application enrollment contract within 6
days (until midnight of the sixth day excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and
legal holidays) after the enrollment agreement is signed. Cancellation after
expiration of the 6-day time period: After expiration of the 6-day
cancellation privilege, the college will retain the $50.00 registration fee.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The following terms and
conditions are outlined on the last page of the Application Enrollment
Contract. Additional terms and conditions are also outlined on the
Application Enrollment Contract. If the applicant is not eighteen
years of age, then the parent or guardian of applicant must sign this
contract. The College of Court Reporting, Inc., provides job placement
assistance without additional charge, but no guarantee of job placement or
amount of earnings is stated or implied. I understand that the College of
Court Reporting, Inc., reserves the right to make changes in graduation
requirements, costs, curriculum, course structure and content, and the
calendar of operation during the life of the catalog and without notice. All
financial obligations due to the College of Court Reporting, Inc. must be
paid in full before grades, transcripts, etc., can be issued or a diploma
awarded.
REENROLLMENT OF FORMER STUDENTS
Students previously
enrolled at the College of Court Reporting are eligible to reenroll at any
time. This includes all graduates, students who completed a program of
study, and students who withdrew from school. (Students who were terminated
or withdrew while on probation for speed or academics must petition for
reinstatement. See "Reinstatement" under "Standards of Satisfactory
Progress.") All previously earned credits will apply with the following
exceptions:
Shorthand skill
will be tested to ensure that the student has retained the ability to
write conflict-free machine shorthand. Students may be required to
retake SH100 or a speed level.
Students must
meet current graduation requirements for the program of study as stated
in the school's current catalog.
TRANSFER REQUIREMENTS
All applicants must have
documentation of transfer credit or testing. Credits from a recognized post
high school institution will be considered for transfer. Students enrolling
with previous computerized machine shorthand technology/court reporting
training will be tested and placed in the appropriate level of proficiency.
Academic requirements will be accepted upon the receipt of an official
transcript from accredited schools previously attended. Tuition fees will be
adjusted accordingly.
Transfer of credits may be awarded to students for work experience. Students
must have documentation of work experience as it relates to the course for
which they are requesting a transfer of credits. The Director of Education
and the instructor of the course for which the transfer of credits has been
requested will determine the documentation requirements. Students must
submit the documentation to CCR for review as prescribed by the Director of
Education and the instructor. After review, the transfer of credits request
will either be approved or denied. The Director of Education and the
instructor may also request more information and\or documentation to make
their final determination.
To be eligible for a degree, diploma, or certificate, transfer students must
complete the following requirements at the College of Court Reporting:
Fifty percent of
the required credits for their program of study: 18 credits for
administrative assistant; 24 for medical transcription diploma; and 43
for court reporting;
Keyboarding speed
requirements for administrative assistant, medical transcription, and
court reporting;
Exit shorthand speeds for court reporting;
Internships for
medical transcription and court reporting.
TRANSFER SPEED PLACEMENT DICTATION ASSESSMENTS
Speed
placement dictation assessments must be completed for students transferring
into CCR's computerized machine shorthand courses, SH130-SH240. The
following five minute audio dictation assessments should be written to paper
notes, transcribed in Microsoft Word and submitted to the admissions office
prior to registering for classes.
Beginning Speed Placement Assessments - Literary,
Jury Charge and Two-voice Testimony
speed assessments at
varying speeds between 60 to 100 wpm.
Intermediate Speed Placement Assessments - Literary,
Jury Charge and Two-voice Testimony
speed assessments at
varying speeds between 120 to 160 wpm.
Advanced Speed Placement Assessments - Literary, Jury
Charge and Two-voice Testimony
speed assessments at
varying speeds between 180 to 225 wpm.
