About College of Court Reporting
Our Mission and Objectives

Mission
A mission statement declares 'why' an organization exists, and is the only foundation upon which a long-range strategic plan, the blueprint for carrying out the organization's business can be developed. College of Court Reporting's mission was initially developed when the CCR was established in 1984. Over the years, it has been revised to reflect changes in curriculum, graduation requirements, and accreditation criteria. Changes include the emphasis on technology in court reporting and word processing, and the addition of alternative careers for court reporters.

CCR's mission emphasizes the standards of accreditation and approval criteria of the National Court Reporters Association, American Association of Medical Transcription, Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, and Indiana Commission on Proprietary Education.

The mission of the College of Court Reporting is to educate students in the fields of computerized realtime machine shorthand technology, court reporting, realtime reporting for the deaf and hard-of-hearing, medical transcription, administrative assistant, and word processing. Students will have the education, skills, academic background, technical knowledge, and hands-on experience required to enter a variety of careers.

Students will have the education, skills, academic background, technical knowledge, and hands-on experience required to enter a variety of careers.  The college strives to improve its programs with the latest information technologies such as steno text entry, computerized transcription, and videotape applications.

  • CCR awards a secretarial (office professional) certificate to students meeting secretarial requirements.
  • CCR provides a professional environment whereby all students are given hands-on experience before entering the marketplace.
  • CCR employs qualified faculty with educational and work experience necessary to teach.
  • CCR encourages students to attain and maintain the highest possible standards in their professional, academic, and private affairs; to continue their education and training by taking college courses and joining professional organizations; and to attend seminars conventions.
